Folio, vellum sheets measure 293x210 mm; 11 1/2x 8 1/4 inches, each individually matted and laid into custom drop-back box of gilt-lettered 1/4-vellum over black cloth; bound volume is folio, publisher's gilt- and blind-stamped red cloth, light wear; lacking plates for April, August, and September. a set of beautiful, exquisitely detailed drawings on vellum for a 19th century german calendar. Each leaf displays the month name above a calligraphed poetic quotation, all elaborately hand-illuminated in gold and colors. The images showcase flora and fauna, courting couples, gothic arbors and letter forms, and more vernacular motifs.
